This policy explains how The Cozy Forkful handles information when you visit thecozyforkful.com or send us a message. You can reach the site team through our contact form, including for privacy questions.
Information we receive
- Messages you send. Our contact form asks for your name, email address, and message. We use these details to respond, investigate a reported problem, or handle your request. Please do not send passwords, payment information, or sensitive medical information.
- Technical information. Our web server records request information such as your IP address, requested address, time, browser information, referring address when supplied, and response status. These logs help us operate the site, diagnose errors, and prevent abuse.
- Your recipe box. When you save a recipe, its post ID is stored in this browser on this device. Opening your recipe box sends the saved IDs to our server so we can display the matching public recipes. The feature does not require an account and does not synchronize between devices.
Cookies and local storage
The recipe box uses local storage under the key cozy-forkful-recipes-v1. It remains until you remove recipes or clear your browser’s site data. WordPress uses cookies for administrator login and, if you access a password-protected page, to remember access to that page. Our Cookie Policy explains these technologies and your choices.
The current site does not have a visitor analytics service, newsletter signup, public account registration, or display advertising integration enabled. We will update this policy when these practices change. Fonts and recipe images used by this theme are served from this site.
Why we use information
We use information to deliver requested pages and features, respond to messages, keep the site reliable, and address abuse or legal requests. Where applicable law requires a legal basis, these activities may rely on our legitimate interests in operating and securing the site, responding to your request, complying with a legal obligation, or consent where required.
Service providers and disclosures
Our hosting and technical service providers process information needed to run the site. A contact submission is stored in a private WordPress inbox, and a notification can be sent to the site administrator. That notification contains a private inbox link, rather than the contents of your message. Information may also be disclosed when legally required or reasonably necessary to protect the site and its users.
We do not sell submitted contact details or use them to build advertising audiences. The current site does not share visitor information with an enabled advertising network. External websites you choose to visit have their own privacy practices; our policies do not govern those websites.
How long information stays
Contact submissions are scheduled for permanent deletion from the website inbox after 90 days. The cleanup runs hourly when WordPress scheduled tasks execute; on a quiet site, execution can occur on the next visit. Spam-prevention records use a one-way keyed representation of the connection address and expire within one day; the contact form does not store the raw address with your message. Server access logs are configured for daily rotation with 14 rotated log files. Backups, records needed to resolve a dispute or meet a legal obligation, and any subsequent correspondence can have separate retention periods.
Your choices and requests
You can clear the recipe box by removing its saved recipes or deleting this site’s browser data. You can also disable browser storage, although the recipe box and some login features will then be unavailable.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, a copy of your information, restriction of processing, or to object to certain uses. You may also have the right to withdraw consent or complain to your local data protection authority. Send requests through Contact and identify the information involved. We may ask for enough information to verify that a request relates to you, and will respond as required by applicable law. We do not charge simply for submitting a privacy request.
Children and security
The site is intended for a general audience and its contact form is not directed to children under 13. If you believe a child has sent personal information, contact us so we can investigate and remove it where appropriate. We use access controls and encrypted website connections to help protect information, but no website can promise absolute security.
